Community VCAL
The Westall Community VCAL unit is situated at two venues; the Doveton Neighbourhood Learning Centre and the Mordialloc Neighbourhood House. These settings provide students with an excellent opportunity to connect and work with the wider community.
The program offers the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL). This is a nationally recognised senior secondary qualification. The curriculum is developed through an approach to relevant issues such as health and wellbeing, current affairs and working with the wider community.
The program will connect young people with the appropriate learning, training pathways and employment opportunities. There wil be an emphasis on adult learning principles and flexible delivery. Small enrolment numbers also support individual learning needs.
The VCAL strands focus on developing literacy and numeracy skills, personal development and work readiness skills.
Students complete a work placement one day a week as a part of their learning program. This provides students with the opportunity to develop the skills that will assist them in making a successful transition into further education, training and employment.

History of CVCAL
The program originated as the YAEE Program, then in 2006 it was renamed LEEP. It started as a pilot program that worked closely with local education and training providers to develop a youth re-enagagement program.
The Westall Secondary College Commuity VCAL (Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning) Program, as it is now known, is a full time program aimed at assisting youth aged 15-19 years to reconnect with education and training.
All participants will be enrolled as students of Westall Secondary College but the training is delivered in a community setting.
