Boomerangs to Stars

Star logo (2000 to Present)

design by Geoff Birtles (Maps Marketing)

This logo was designed when the college had reached its 35th anniversary to help celebrate a new start for the 2000 millennium. The blue and gold colours were retained.

The three stars symbolise the federation star of Australia. They are the the same as the federation star on the Australian Flag. Stars are an important navigation tool for people trying to find their way.

The blue and gold triangles form an outline of the letter W for Westall. Together all the different elements form a rough outline of Australia. Sometimes a blue bar is added for some printing designs such as the school diary.

MAPS have prepared a collection of  design standards (pdf) to guide the use of the logo.

An animated 3D adaptation was developed in 2001 by Michael Macleod, computer technician. This was used on the Dewey file server for the college Intranet. It is an animated GIF file that loops, pauses then runs again.

Shield logo ( ? to 1999)

design by Susan Cohn (Graphics Teacher)

This Logo was designed when the Westall High School changed to Westall Secondary College. She decided to do a more traditional Logo because the first Logo looked very dated.

The shield is a traditional shape used with many private school badges. The open book represents our college. The map of the world was photo reduced. Ian Cohn suggested a world map would be appropriate because the students at Westall came from all over the world. This was overlayed onto the book. The sprig of wattle was inspired by the the native gardens all around the college and that Westall was an Australian School.

The motto remained the same although there was some discussion on whether it should change because of the word "service". Sue felt that it should remain the same.

The colours used for the badge were Royal Blue for the background, Gold for the outlines and details.
