About WELC

Westall English Language Centre has access to excellent resources for communicating with families from language backgrounds other than English.  WELC is located on Rosebank Avenue, Clayton South; sharing the same site as Westall Secondary College.

The Centre's primary function is to provide its students with an intensive English Language program. The program is geared towards the demands and expectations of mainstream secondary education.

The student population is comprised of those who access the New Arrivals Program and Full Fee Paying International Students. Currently, WELC has a target enrolment of 39 students for its New Arrivals (Commonwealth funded) component and an unspecified number in the Full Fee Paying part.

The student population is very diverse; as the background of students varies from year to year.

WELC is funded by the Commonwealth Government and as with other Language Schools and Centres, it is administered by the Department of Education and Training (DET). It comes under the auspices of the LOTE/ESL Branch.
